is coming...
Slowly recovering from the illness. Not by choice, but rather... by me. Of course, who else
could possibly make me feel better? :p
Finished reading The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle by Haruki Murakami after a long struggle
with the book. Unsatisfying ending, I'd say. Maybe I read too fast; I didn't quite catch some
details. Nonetheless, I just ordered three other books by the same author. I figured, I might as well
take advantage of free shipping while I'm in California. Especially with the new US J-1 VISA policy,
I don't think I will be returning anytime soon...
Found a bug that's been haunting me for a couple of days. Instinctively I knew it was something
trivial. And of course, I went through the trouble of what can be better described as reinventing
the wheel, in vain. All I needed was one simple line of commmand:
C:\WINNT\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v1.0.3705>aspnet_regiis.exe -i
The pain this solution gave me was beyond anything I could've ever imagined. It was as if the
mountains on both side of Silicon Valley had trembled down, collapsing everything in between. The
energy of my anger had ignited all volcanoes, both live and dormant, of the world, melting every
living beings on its way down... an apocalyptic event!
But that's alright, winter is coming to near. :)
When you lose the train of thoughts Get on it at its next stop. |

is leaving...
That's right. The end of autumn is near. I thought about something smart to write for this entry, but
I couldn't come up with anything intelligent. And I know that I will somehow end up filling the blank
void space out, just as I would when I myself hungry in the most inconvenient time ever: I
always end up eating something. @.@ Anyways...
Last night, I went to watch a couple of films at
UNAFF
held at Stanford University. Really
nice campus, I must admit. I wouldn't even compare University of Waterloo, because it's just not
comparable. It'd be like comparing some elementary school's library to the one we have at UW. So,
naturally, for someone like me, I can't help but to sense how miserable it is to be.. me.
Anyways, that's not the point.
The first one was
about the strugglings of garment workers in Saipan. How they were constantly lied to, used, abused,
treated badly, and so on and so forth. Life over there seemed pretty bad.
Just as when I thought I was watching a depressing film, the second documentary started. It
was on the trafficking, particularly in Thailand. Throughout the whole movie, which lasted about 90
minutes, I felt like there was a collision point of hot and cold fronts right above my head.
Some girl in front of me and one on my left were sniffing even before I started to notice
many people bringing hands to their eyes, wiping their tears off. And here I was, complaining about
how UW's campus stinks and all. I felt so small in that crowd...

My boss is back
Which means that I will be getting some more exciting stuff soon. I worked on another OSA (some
dumb machine that costs big bucks) and finally got it to work. It's been bugging the heck out of
me for some time and I am glad that I don't have to see it ever again! Hmm.. Come to think of it,
I only began to work on it last Friday, but for some reason it feels like I've been wrestling
with it for ever now. ^^
I am also working on another website (well, just the lay-out). I don't know when the new one will
be released but I fear that it's going to take some time. And knowing the history of my previous attempts
in making something new and fresh - most of them were abandoned to rot, by the way - I cannot
guarantee anything to myself. But I do know one thing: its dull-looking, depressing white-on-black
concept, and some of its useless contents really gotta go. Also, I find those pop-up ads
really annoying. It's been real fun working on this site, but it's time to move on, don't you agree? :p

Are you bored at work? Join the club. Actually.. Are you bored due to the fact that your
laziness is now in control over your body and soul? Then you may join my club. :p
I was just browsing through the picture albums and came across this picture. Why did I
take it? I don't know. As matter of fact, I don't even remember taking this picture, to
tell you the truth. Pretty shiwon, isn't it? ;)
Picture taken in Victoria in August. And now, that's a cooooooool picture... literally!
hehehe
Wow, I love it when I surprise myself like this. :p

tale of a tiger in korea
Here's a story that I want to share..
Once upon a time there lived a wood cutter full of wit. One day the woodcutter went into the woods
to cut wood. On his way he heard a sound from the bushes and then a huge tiger appeared with his
mouth open wide.
The woodcutter was so scared he was shaking when suddenly he hit upon a plan. The woodcutter kneeled
down in front of the tiger, shedding tears saying, "Brother, I have finally met you. Mother always
told me that long ago my brother went into the woods to cut wood but never came back. She thought he
was dead, but one day in her dream he appeared saying he had become a tiger and couldn't return. And
now having met you, I feel I must be dreaming, Brother." With the woodcutter talking without even
stopping and shedding tears, the tiger believed his words. The tiger, thinking of his mother, began
to weep. "Brother, come with me and see mother," the woodcutter said in an even more friendly manner.
"No. How can I, looking like this. I will catch a wild bear for you two times every month. Be twice
as good to her." Next morning, there was a wild bear in the woodcutter's yard. "The tiger I met
yesterday has kept his promise," he said to himself.
Thinking of the tiger who had done his duty to his mother, the woodcutter also devoted himself to his
mother. Years later the mother died.
After the mother's death the tiger never came back. One day when the woodcutter went into the woods
he saw tiger cubs with hemp cloths tied on their tails. ( a sign of mourning) The cubs were the
children of the tiger he had met before. Knowing of his mother's death, the tiger had eaten nothing
at all and wept and died a few days before. The woodcutter was deeply moved by the tiger's filial
piety, and took good care of the cubs.
By the way... Happy birthday to you! :)
